The 1000 Girls, 1000 Futures

Do you know of any young women in high school who could use a network of intelligent, motivated women in STEM to be a part of? If they have access to the internet, a passion for any branch of science, and are looking for mentorship, the 1000 Girls, 1000 Futures program wants to meet them! This program was designed to match girls in high school with a passion for STEM with a female mentor for a yearlong partnership. Plus, 1000 Girls gives students access to exciting content that will help them develop their 21st century skills like leadership, communication, and critical thinking. Want more reasons to spread the word? This program will also provide content on college/university readiness, access to live webinars and events with inspirational guest speakers, and the ability to network with mentors and mentees from all over the world. Help to find the next cohort of deserving young women!

The program is open to girls ages 13–19 who are currently in high school. Each student is paired with a female mentor dedicated to supporting the development of young women in STEM. Students engage in online courses and activities that develop their leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills. The program also includes a college readiness component to encourage mentees to pursue higher education. All work is done through an innovative virtual platform, facilitating interaction among students and mentors across the globe.

In the summer of 2016, all participating students will be invited to gather in New York City for the first annual Global STEM Alliance Summit, where they’ll have the chance to network with STEM experts, their mentors, and their peers, in addition to participating in workshops and unique STEM-related experiences.
